Meet Coach Brooke Randall! -Grace Kasabula

Updated: Nov 1, 2022

Assistant Principal Brooke Randall is the new Assistant Varsity Softball coach at North Andover High School.

Q: Tell me a little bit about your experience with playing/coaching softball in the past.

A: I love playing and coaching softball. I played varsity softball in high school, and have continued to play in both women's and co-ed leagues as an adult. I coached for 3 seasons as the varsity assistant at Peabody High School from 2007-2009, and coached 1 year with Coach Flanagan here in NA during the 2014 season.

Q: Obviously, you're already a big part of the North Andover community. What made you want to dive into coaching as well?

A: Coaching is a great way for me to connect with students in a different way than school, and to have students also see me in a setting outside of my assistant principal role. Sports have always been a big part of my life, and having been away from coaching for several years, I was excited to once again have and take advantage of the opportunity to get back on the field again.

Q: How are you and Ms. Flanagan planning to tackle this season? And how have you two been working together so far?

A: Ms. Flanagan and I are great friends, have known each other for a long time, and work very well together! We have a talented, veteran-led team this year, and it's been a blast working with them every day. Our plan is to continue to prepare our team as best we can each day, and take one game at a time.

Q: What does it mean to you to be able to coach young women’s sports?

A: It's incredibly special to me to be able to coach young women's sports. So many intangible qualities that young people will carry throughout their life are learned and practiced through sport (especially team sports), and I also believe it's very important and impactful when female athletes have women coaches/leaders in their lives.

Q: Do you have any pets?

A: Yes, I have two dogs! They are both chocolate lab mixes (rescue dogs). Malcolm is 10, and Levi is 3.

Q: All time favorite movie soundtrack?

A: I haven't really listened to a full movie soundtrack in a while...but 2 old favorites of mine are the soundtracks of Clueless and Garden State.
